Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.

John Muir

These are dark times, there is no denying. Our world has perhaps faced no greater threat than it does today.
— Rufus Scrimgeour (J.K. Rowling)

As a lover of nature and an avid environmentalist, I feel more strongly than ever the need to take action on behalf of our planet. I find inspiration, peace, and joy in my communes with nature each day and I want my children and eventual grandchildren to have the opportunity to experience those same feelings.

In an attempt to preserve our remaining wild places and to help stem the progress of climate change, I donate a portion of proceeds from my monthly embroidery pattern series to worthy environmental charity each month. These charities and programs have all been vetted by multiple watchdogs, have transparency in their financial accounting, and have proven their commitment and effectiveness in the field of environmental research and preservation.

We need the tonic of wildness.
— Henry David Thoreau

For the months of October, November, and December of 2017, 10% of proceeds from my monthly patterns will be donated to the American Bird Conservancy. I love birds--they inspire me on an artistic and spiritual level and they are crucial members of our ecosystems on Earth. The American Bird Conservancy works tirelessly to protect our feathered friends and their threatened habitats in the face of climate change.

"ABC's mission is to conserve native birds and their habitats throughout the Americas. Our commitment to bird conservation remains absolute, even while some other groups shift their mission to prioritize people over wildlife. We believe unequivocally that conserving birds and their habitats benefits all other species — including people."--ABC Website

The American Bird Conservancy conserves birds in a way that is, "simple yet successful, our Bird Conservation Strategic Framework — summed up in the ABC pyramid — shows how we approach bird conservation.

We innovate, build on sound science, and work in partnership to achieve four goals: halt extinctions, protect habitats, eliminate threats, and build capacity for bird conservation."
